Designing for Disaster Relief

Students in IIT’s IPRO program were guided by BaoDesignLab’s Linda Pulik in building a mobile operating room and lighting systems designed to be used in areas that have just experienced a natural disaster. Both were designed to be portable, modular, cost-effective, energy-efficient, easily incorporated into a sterile environment and deployed quickly to treat injured victims in need of surgery. The operating room project was initiated by IPRO students and spanned 3 semesters.
